The essays are designed to stand on their conceptual usefulness. This separate record explains how they emerged, where they meet existing work, and why none is presented as an unprecedented discovery.

How to read the figures

Reconstruction, not quality

The percentage estimates the chance that a capable specialist could reconstruct the idea from the closest existing literature. The original search used a demanding novelty target below 25%. A high number does not make an idea false, derivative in every detail, or unworthy of attention. It only limits claims about conceptual priority.

Why the novelty claim was limited

  • A 2026 structural preprint had already shown the key arrangement: asymmetric Syncytin binding restrains two protomers while a third remains mobile.
  • Interpreting that known mobile protomer as a fusion actuator was therefore only one additional inferential step.
  • An older study found an ASCT2 form that lacked amino-acid transport but retained retroviral receptor activity, weakening any simple claim that transport cycling is required for fusion.

Information-Induced Reversal

Why the novelty claim was limited

  • Once recent posterior-mean ordering and structure-preserving replicator results are placed together, the reversal follows from a short Taylor expansion.
  • Research on random-payoff and noise-induced replicator dynamics already occupies the surrounding mechanism.
  • The result was a neat new composition, but too readily recoverable by a specialist to count as an irreducible idea.

  • Serial and secondary trogocytosis had already been demonstrated: monocytes acquired tumour membrane and then redistributed it to other immune cells.
  • Transferred HLA-G and chimeric antigen receptors were already known to give genetically negative recipient cells new regulatory or antitumour functions.
  • Once serial transfer, finite receptor lifetime and response thresholds are known, an increase in carrier count during declining total mass is a straightforward quantitative consequence.

  • Viability theory already studies whether a controlled system can remain inside a feasible region and preserve a path to desired states.
  • Research on decision reversibility, commitment and switching costs already separates nominal options from psychologically or practically usable ones.
  • Philosophy of transformative choice already asks how decisions relate to future selves whose preferences and identities may change.

  • James C. Scott had already described states making societies resemble their administrative grids.
  • Cybernetics, ultrastability and control co-design already treat plant and controller as mutually shaping rather than independent.
  • Performative prediction and morphological computation supply modern formal versions of predictions and bodies changing the systems they act upon.

Why the novelty claim was limited

  • Existing research already shows that exact sequential tests can fail in a rich information filtration yet work after that filtration is coarsened.
  • Related work explicitly defines validity relative to available information and stopping times, and even proposes different information sets for cooperating sceptics.
  • The proposal also overstated its philosophical conclusion: failure of one exact test martingale does not make a claim unfalsifiable, because fixed-horizon, conservative, adjusted or asymptotic tests may remain available.
